Don't Forget to Wash your Reusable Bags!

In an article by the Vancouver Sun, 24 reusable bags were intercepted in downtown Toronto and tested. Of the bags tested, 64 per cent were contaminated with “some level of bacteria,” about 30 per cent had “elevated bacterial counts” higher than what is considered safe for drinking water, 40 per cent of the bags had yeast or mould, and some of the bags had “an unacceptable presence of coliforms.” NOTE: This study was commissioned by the plastics industry, therefore the public is a skeptical on the findings. We however want to remind all of our followers to wash your reusable bags once a week and store them in a dry ventilated area. Reusable bags are a hygiene item and like all similar products, need to be cleaned regularly. To read the full article:
