Oasis Bags was founded in Canada in 1989 with two fundamental beliefs: to provide environmentally friendly alternatives to single-use plastic/paper bags; and to supply socially responsible certified products. Founders Laurie and Robin Maloni were both very passionate about the environment and had strong business backgrounds to base this endeavor. After a great deal of research and designing, Oasis Bags launched their first line of bags. Retailers were initially hesitant to the concept of customers paying for reusable bags, but Oasis Bags stayed determined to get their products into the market.
By the mid 1990s, increasing media coverage began making people more aware about environmental concerns which meant consumers were demanding "green" products. Oasis Bags listened carefully to their needs and responded with customized products according to specific retailers' requests.
As awareness for the environment grew in the media, recycling technologies became more efficient. As a result, Oasis Bags discovered a way to create bags out of post-consumer plastic. Our product line began including a wide variety of recycled, recyclable, biodegradable and organic bags.

Oasis Bags is still owned and operated by our original founders and headquartered in Quebec, Canada. Due to the success of our Canadian business model, we expanded into the United States and opened an office in San Francisco, California in 2009. Our close-knit team are well experienced in the industry and are all environmentally conscious individuals. We have integrated environmentally friendly practices into our daily office operations, including recycling, composting, car-pooling, buying sustainable supplies, etc.
We still strive to obtain all necessary certifications and pass auditing to ensure truly environmentally friendly and socially responsible products to pass onto our customers. Our bags have been rigorously tested, our production facilities have been inspected and we have followed stringent guidelines to get where we are today.
We pride ourselves on our close relationships with our customers from beginning to delivery. It is important to us that our customers get the ideal end product, something that they are proud to put their name on.

Oasis Bags proudly has EcoLogo™ certification for the following product materials; woven polypropylene, non woven polypropylene and cotton/canvas. EcoLogo™ provides customers – public, corporate and consumer – with assurance that the products and services bearing the logo meet exceptionally high standards of environmental leadership. In order to achieve EcoLogo™ approval, our bags have been rigorously tested, our production facilities have been inspected, and we have followed stringent guidelines to offer our clients a truly environment-friendly product.
We also have passed several recent SGS audits which closely inspected the factory's machinery, working conditions, safety and performance. We openly welcome customers that require self-audits or factory inspections before going ahead with projects.
